Open Gardens 2023 & 2027

We held our first ever Upper Saxondale Open Gardens on Sunday 4th June 2023 in aid of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust. Twelve village gardens and private paddocks were opened by residents, along with the woodland walks and a grass Maze near the play park. The gardens varied in size and style, from bijou to professionally landscaped. We also had Tom our resident bee-keeper sharing his skills and selling honey; and, there was a demonstration of wood whittling too along with sales of items the whittlers had created. And of course vegetable and flower plants stalls in 2 gardens and afternoon teas and cakes in the village hall.

The next Upper Saxondale Open Open Gardens is planned for Sunday 6th June 2027

Building on the success of our first Open Gardens in 2023, we are inviting residents to contact us if they would like to open their gardens. We are not looking for perfection or perfectly manicured gardens, though we would love those as well! Visitors enjoy looking at works in progress, problem gardens, windy, poor soil, odd shapes etc. So don't hold back.

If opening your garden is not for you, we are going to need lots of help both before and on the day so we'd love to hear from you too.
