Lawn Tennis Association Affiliation

USTC is registered to the LTA and to Nottinghamshire’s County Tennis Association. In order to maintain our affiliation the Club has to be registered every year. The benefits of affiliation are many but the principal benefits are as follows:

  1. LTA public liability insurance covers us.

  2. We can participate in League matches. We have a very successful men’s team. In the past we have had both a mixed team and a ladies’ team. Dwindling numbers of members who wanted to play in matches led to both teams being disbanded but these could be revived if new members are interested.

  3. Wimbledon Ballot - All members of the club who are British Tennis Members and have opted into the ballot before the required date are eligible to take part. Historically we have been allotted 3 pairs of tickets and we have usually been offered another 1 or 2 pairs by the County Tennis Association.

Tickets must be paid for at their face value but those with an interest in going to Wimbledon will know that the alternatives to get to Wimbledon are either queuing on the day in the hope of entry or purchase of an expensive corporate package. There is a public ballot but the odds of getting tickets are much lower than participating in the club ballot.

In order to maintain our affiliation we have to provide details of how many members we have by gender and, if a junior, by age. We are required to carry out an annual risk assessment; have a Safeguarding Policy and Procedure; have a Diversity &Inclusion Policy and Procedure; have a trained welfare officer and ensure that any coaches are LTA accredited. Annual fees are also charged.

The LTA is keen to grow the sport and can offer assistance in marketing the club if any new members were keen to take this up.
